Melanotan II (MT-II) is a synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), a cyclic lactam analogue with increased stability versus native α-MSH. It binds to melanocortin receptors MC1R and MC4R with high affinity, and is studied in the context of pigmentation biology, sexual function research, and appetite regulation via central MC4R pathways.
